After our deeds in the morte zone we were given some time to recover. We even enjoyed the privilege to travel in a cart.\\

A challenge\\

We are approached by two troopers from the phalange dacier. They want to challenge Di Pionio to a gladiator fight organized on the fringe of legality during the evening stops. They have an unbeaten champion  and only a proneur with a reputation like Di Pionio can bring the stakes in the bets back on track.\\
The price for participation is longly negotiated (3 medipacks and two arpenteurs  or half in case of defeat). In addition the fighters will stop at first surrender and receive treatment after the match. Di Pionio agrees.\\
The organisers clearly have support in the hierarchy for these activities.\\

Siana\\

We hear that Siana, the kitchen girl, has committed suicide. She launched herself in front of the Leviathan. The monk, Leonardo and a new girl in the team start an enquiry. This leads them to Mimi, a colleague of Siana. She quickly admits that Siana was probably molested by the chioef cook of the Leviathan. In her eyes this is not an issue, but something to be taken advantage off. The three group members see it differently and ask for revenge for Siana. The phalange du Phenix where the debate takes place are very compassionate with the womens suffering in the caravan. Before long the whole cohorte is up to lynch the guilty cook  an officer.\\
Despite the Monks attempts at coordinating the mob the new girl in the group cuts the mans balls in front of hundreds of witnesses. The Pures intervene. The mob is dissolved and the guilty leaders found & arrested.\\
Leonardo withdraws from the mob before the action.\\
The monk blames the girl.\\
The girl takes responsibility.\\
The Comodore argue about the punishment. In the end the guilty cook and the girl are crucified. The Monk is released after some torture at the hand of the Pures.\\

Once more the popularity of our phalange is at its lowest. The whole caravan is punished by an increase in the speed of the Leviathan. We are systematically the first group of batisseurs in the darkness.\\
Even our sister phalange shows signs of impatience with our behavior.\\

The Sand\\

The increased speed leads us to make a bad mistake in crossing a desert, sand section of the darkness. We forget to put on our rackets for walking in moving sands. The result is several of us sliding to certain death. It is only the strength of Di Pionio and Seth that can maintain people alive until our sister phalange arrives to the rescue. Thanks to Axelles great leadership skills they are quickly put to use and we manage to save everybody from a very dangerous situation.\\
After the event we cross a marcheur who takes great pleasure in pointing our stupidity in forgetting the rackets. Given the tension that exists in the whole group it is not surprising that some of us overreact to the criticism. Particularly Di Pionio shows signs of aggressively. However, thanks to the appeasing intervention of Axelle, and her good relationship with Di Pionio the worst could be avoided.\\

Vent des Dieux\\

After the sandy stretch of darkness we reach a more rocky desert section. We are warned by marcheurs about the snakes in the area and their poison. But Solar is with us and we are not attacked by any.\\

However, a giant spider is in our way. A tragic fight in which Nova goes down. None of us has the skill to heal him and neutralize the poison. And all the attempts by Vent de Dieux, the proneurs from our sister phalange, allows fails in his attempts.\\
He takes it very seriously and starts to hit himself. The Monk offers assistance, which he kindly accepts.\\
Then in a tragic access of rage Di Pionio takes the whip from the hands of the Monk and hits the crazed proneur. In one slash he goes down, wounded to the bone. The tension between our phalange and our sisters are at a height.\\
We manage to bring the wounded back to the camp. But our Flambeau loses her final patience with us over this incidence. She who has always defended us.\\
It seems that after a close to a month exposure to the hardship of the darkness the stress has lead to strain relationships with all our allies.\\
And none can survive in the darkness on their own\\
